The Northeast Kingdom has three state airports within the tri-county region known as the Kingdom - Caledonia, Essex and Orleans. Pilots should check out the web site, www.airnav.com, for current FAA charts and airport specifications. Scheduled airline service is available in Berlin, Vt. or Lebanon, N.H. International flights are through Burlington, Vt.; Montreal, Canada; or Manchester, N.H.
Caledonia County: Caledonia County State Airport, 2107 Pudding Hill Road, Lyndonville, VT 05851. 802-626-3353. Fax: 802-626-3857 The Caledonia County State Airport does not have staff on-site, but does have self-serve fuel 24 hours a day. The airport runway is asphalt. Orleans County: Newport State Airport, 2628 Airport Road, Newport, VT 05855. 802-334-5001. Contact person is Dan Gauvin. dan@lakeviewaviation.com, www.lakeviewaviation.com Newport State Airport is staffed by Lakeview Aviation from 9 am. to 5 pm. and has self-serve fuel available 24 hours a day. Lakeview Aviation offers flight instruction and aircraft rentals. The airport has an asphalt runway. Serving Caledonia, Essex, Orleans and Lamoille counties. Bus service five (5) times a day between St. Johnsbury, Green Mountain Mall, Lyndonville, and Lyndon State College. Also between St. Johnsbury and Montpelier, and between Newport, Derby and Derby Line. Rural Community Transporation St. Johnsbury Office: 802-748-8170. Both the "Jay-Lyn" and the "Highlander " bus routes are Deviated routes. Deviations from the routes are available up to a distance of 1/4 mile along the route upon request. To make a request for deviation simply call your local RCT Office at least one business day in advance. Calls can be made Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm except holidays. **When traveling with children, Infant/Toddler seats are required, booster seats are requested.**
Jay-Lyn Bus Shuttle: Makes five round trips daily, Monday through Friday. The shuttle travels from St. Johnsbury to Lyndonville, including stops at Human Services, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Norris Cotton Cancer Center, doctor's offices, Lyndon State College, housing complexes and grocery stores. The Highlander Bus Shuttle: Makes four round trips daily, Monday through Friday, and two round trips on Saturdays. The shuttle travels from Newport through Derby to Derby Line. Stops include North Country Hospital, Human Services, IROC Fitness Center, public housing areas and grocery stores. The shuttle also goes past the local High School. Other services include coordinated transportation for elderly, disabled and medical needs. Rates: FREE
